Herbal Medicine

What is herbal medicine?

“Herbal medicine is a system of healing in which medicinal plants and natural protocols are used in the prevention of chronic diseases and in the maintenance of optimum health and well-being. It is the original medicine of all peoples. Every culture of every era has, until recently, depended on plants for healing. Even today, herbal medicine is the primary healing modality for much of the world’s population.” -The Ontario Herbalists Association

Who can benefit from herbs?

Herbal medicine is a safe and effective healing modality for everyone. People from all stages of life can greatly benefit from herbal medicine, from infants to the very elderly. Herbal medicine is also a natural way to enhance the overall wellness of your pets. With guidance from a Clinical Herbalist, those already receiving medical treatment can also use herbal medicine. Using herbs alongside medical treatment can make the treatment more effective, and can help decrease any unwanted side-effects of conventional medical treatment. Herbal medicine works with the body to help it heal. Many people are turning away from pharmaceuticals and are looking for a more gentle and natural approach. Herbal medicine is one of the alternative medicines which offers just such an approach. However, sometimes medications are a necessity, and in these cases I am more than happy to work with herbs alongside pharmaceuticals to help you reach your health goals. No health issue is too big or too small to benefit from herbal medicine.
